Quarter on a String

Support

Quarter on a String is a free arcade for iPhone. It’s named after the old trick: tie a string to a quarter, drop it in, pull it back out, play again. Every game is rebuilt or new, free, with no ads, built by AI agents and directed by me.

Common questions

Is it really free? Yes. No ads, no in-app purchases, no accounts.

What are tickets for? You earn them for good play and for a daily visit to each machine, up to 30 a machine a day. They buy looks at the prize counter: cabinet paint, the hall’s carpet and marquee, a digger outfit, block skins. They never make a game easier.

My scores and tickets are gone. They’re saved on your phone, inside the app. Deleting the app, or offloading it with its data, clears them. They don’t sync between devices.

Game Center isn’t showing my scores. Check that you’re signed in under Settings > Game Center. The app signs in quietly when it opens. Tap the trophy in the hall to see the leaderboards.

There’s no sound. The app follows the ring/silent switch, so flip it to ring. Each game also has a mute button, and it’s shared across the arcade.

Can I play with a keyboard? Yes. Every game works with a keyboard and with touch, held upright or sideways.

Who made it? AI agents: Claude built the games, Codex made most of the art, and I directed it. Flip any cabinet over (the “i” button) to see how that game was made.
