Resell with Claude

A playbook for running a resale side hustle or small shop with Claude: pricing from real sold comps, a workbook that does the margin math, a buy-or-pass check in the store, listing drafts, and a weekly review.

Resale is a numbers business dressed up as a treasure hunt. The fun part is the find. The part that decides whether you make money is dull: what this thing actually sells for, what the platform takes, what shipping costs, and whether that leaves enough to be worth the photos.

Claude is good at the dull part. It's patient with a pile of comps, it does the fee math the same way every time, and it writes a decent first draft of a listing from a few photos. It's bad at knowing prices on its own. Ask it "what's this worth?" with nothing to go on and you'll get a confident number from nowhere.

So this guide is built around one rule:

  • Claude prices from comps you can see, never from memory. Sold listings, with links. If there are no comps, the answer is "I don't know yet", not a guess.

And four habits that keep it honest:

  • One workbook is the source of truth. Inventory, comps, sourcing and settings. The margin math lives in formulas, so the floor price on every item is the same calculation whether you, Claude or a spreadsheet does it.
  • Sold beats asking. An active listing at $120 tells you what someone hopes for. Three sold at $60 tell you the price.
  • Claude drafts, you decide. It suggests the price, the title and the markdown. You check the comps, look at the item and press list.
  • A weekly review catches what's aging before it turns into a shelf of dead stock.

Every claim about what Claude or a marketplace can do links to that company's own help pages, at the foot of each chapter. Fees and features change, so if something here doesn't match what you see, trust the help page. The workbook keeps fees in one Settings tab for exactly that reason.

The items and numbers in the examples are made up.
